Mind, body, & spirit
Approach
Aleina approaches Chinese medicine from a classical perspective by allowing it to stand freely as a complete medical system, unifying elegant and precise diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic techniques with self-cultivation practices. Chinese medicine is an ancient healing art through which an array of modalities have developed over thousands of years and are used throughout the world today. Aleina draws fluidly from numerous efficient tools and techniques that nurture the body's inherent capacity to heal. Patients receive trusted and accurate information on which therapeutic techniques and products will help them achieve their goals. Sessions focus on resolving obstructive patterns held throughout the nervous system, and can include mindfulness-based counseling.

Modalities
Aleina has extensive training in several healing modalities to address individual health needs and preferences through personalized care. Each session is further informed by how the patient's body responds during treatment on a moment to moment basis.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is most often very comfortable and involves hair-fine needles that are flexible and filiform, meaning they feature a round pointed tip and are not hollow. This makes for a very different experience than most people associate with needles. Needles are stainless steel and one-time-use only.
Acupuncture works with specific points on the body to facilitate healing by restoring the flow of blood and communication through stagnated or blocked areas. You may notice some subtle vibrations or bright traveling sensations. This is normal and considered an indication of movement and even vibrancy. The efficacy of acupuncture for treating multiple conditions is supported by an extensive body of scientific literature. Acupuncture is endorsed by the American College of Physicians (ACP), the Department of Health and Human Services (NIH, FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS
Precisely formulated vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids. Foundational nutrients your body needs to function. Even with perfect nutritional intake, food today simply does not contains all the necessary vitamins and minerals due to soil depletion.
Cupping-Massage
Cupping is a technique that uses glass cups of various sizes as suction devices placed on the skin. Once the suction has occurred, the cups may be left stationary or gently moved across the skin causing the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawn into the cup. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles and encourage blood flow, similar to massage. Cupping helps relieve back and neck pain, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and can even reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Bowen therapy
Bowen therapy is a deeply restorative myofascial technique. A series of gentle moves in specific locations on the body activate the innate healing process by initiating communication between the peripheral and central nervous systems. A personalized protocol is selected to address the needs of each patient, based on their symptoms and primary objectives. Healing communication occurs system-wide and especially involves nerves, fascial tissue, and energetics. In this way, bowen therapy helps clients move from a static, protective state to one of dynamic healing. Learn more about how bowen therapy works.
Essential oils
Pure essential oils are powerful natural resources for wellness. Essential oil constituents are both tiny in molecular size and lipid soluble, allowing many of them to quickly penetrate the skin, move through the bloodstream, and even pass through cellular membranes. Essential oils embody the regenerating, communicating, protective and immune-strengthening properties of plants. Work with an experienced practitioner to select oils carefully, as they are not created equal.
TUNING FORKS
Needles are not always necessary or desired. Patients often enjoy entire treatments featuring tuning forks, essential oils, and moxa.
Most simply, tuning forks are another way to practice acupressure and may be used with points, along channels, as an auditory experience, and held near the surface of the body where a light vibration may be felt. Experience it for yourself. The tone of each fork is responsible for its effect. Some are grounding and relaxing, others promote feelings of sustained energy, and still others are best used to open and relax or strengthen and tonify specific areas of the body.
Herbal Formulas
Herbal formulas are an integral part of healing in classical Chinese medicine and date back over 4,000 years. Herbs address both acute and chronic disease while working synergistically with acupuncture treatments. Taking a formula daily extends your treatment throughout the week and provides your body with regular corrective impulses, for deeper and more sustained therapeutic effect. Chinese herbal formulas are used for three primary reasons: to alleviate specific symptoms, to rectify imbalances in the body, and to promote longevity. Ideally, patients are brought to the level of optimizing their health and preventing illness, as compared with managing symptoms in chronically compromised health.
Moxabustion (Moxa)
Aleina uses rice grain moxibustion, a Japanese style of moxa that requires advanced technique to moderate just the right amount of heat. Rice grain moxa is integrated elegantly into acupuncture treatments to strengthen the immune system, increase circulation for pain relief and reduced swelling, correct breech presentation in pregnancy, and stimulate the movement of qi.
